South Korea and Portugal celebrate growing diplomatic and cultural ties
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Portugal has highlighted the growing cultural and historical ties between South Korea and Portugal. As the first woman to hold this diplomatic position, the Ambassador noted the increasing interest in Korean culture in Portugal, including K-pop, K-dramas, and K-beauty, as well as the rise in Portuguese visitors to Lisbon facilitated by direct flights between Seoul and Lisbon.
In 2026, the two nations will celebrate 65 years of diplomatic relations. To mark this milestone, the Embassy plans to promote new initiatives aimed at strengthening the connection between the two peoples through cultural and social exchange.
