South Korea and US hold inaugural finance and monetary policy meeting
South Korea and the United States conducted their first “two-plus-two” meeting between finance and monetary policymakers in Bangkok. The meeting took place on the sidelines of a Group of 20 (G20) ministerial gathering.
South Korean Finance Minister Lee Hyoung-il and Bank of Korea Governor Shin Hyun-song met with U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh and U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Francis Brooke. The discussions focused on recent economic developments and methods to enhance bilateral economic and financial cooperation.
The primary objective of the meeting was to improve the policy mix between the two nations and establish a framework to address external financial uncertainties through close coordination between their respective financial and monetary authorities.
