South Korea announces care initiative and Nepal missing persons response

The South Korean government is advancing a ‘State Responsibility for Care’ initiative aimed at supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. The policy seeks to provide comprehensive lifelong support, including housing, employment, and property management, to ensure safety within local communities even in the absence of parents. Key measures include doubling the number of adult daytime activity service recipients from 15,000 to 30,000 by 2030 and expanding 24-hour one-on-one care for those with severe disabilities to include weekends.

Separately, President Lee Jae-myung has instructed officials to review necessary measures to address the difficulties faced by the families of missing persons in Nepal.
