South Korea defeats Czech Republic 2-1 in World Cup 2026 group match

South Korea came from behind to beat the Czech Republic 2‑1 in the opening Group A match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in Guadalajara. The Czech side took the lead in the 59th minute when V. Krejci headed in, but In‑beom Hwang equalised eight minutes later with a solo effort. Eight minutes after that, U. Hyeon‑gi scored the winner from an assist by Hwang, while a late Czech header by T. Sutsek was cancelled by VAR for off‑side.

The victory puts South Korea at the top of the group alongside Mexico, securing three points from the first round of the tournament.
