South Korea beats Czech Republic 2-1 in World Cup comeback

South Korea rallied to defeat the Czech Republic 2-1 in their Group A match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico. Hwang In‑beom, the Feyenoord midfielder, scored the equaliser in the 67th minute and provided the decisive pass to Oh Hyeon‑gyu, who netted the winner in the 80th minute. The Czech side had taken the lead earlier through a header by Ladislav Krejčí at the 59th minute.

The match was attended by 44,985 spectators. South Korea’s coach Hong Myung‑bo praised his players for not giving up, while Czech coach Miroslav Koubek acknowledged the quality of the Korean side. The victory gives the Asian team three points and strengthens its hopes of advancing beyond the group stage.
