South Korea defeated the Czech Republic 2–1 in their Group A fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held at the stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico. The Koreans took the lead after a precise finish by In‑Bom Hwang, who received a pass from Kan‑In Lee and curled the ball over goalkeeper Ji‑Sun Lee. Czech forward Tomáš Souček equalised shortly before the hour mark, but South Korea regained the advantage when Hwang again out‑maneuvered the defence and scored from close range.
