South Korea Crypto Exchanges Log Stablecoin Outflows, Altcoin Volume Spike

For 18 consecutive months, South Korea's five largest won‑denominated crypto exchanges have sent more stablecoins abroad than they have received. In June 2026 the net outflow reached 2.7625 trillion won (about $367 million) against inflows of 2.2022 trillion won, showing a steady capital migration to overseas platforms as local venues lack DeFi, staking and real‑world asset products.

At the same time, trading activity on domestic exchanges Upbit and Bithumb surged. Over the latest 24‑hour window the combined altcoin turnover hit roughly $347.7 million, led by MetaDAO ($65.84 million), Euler ($47.65 million) and XRP ($38.11 million). The spike reflects Korean investors shifting funds to global markets for higher yields and broader asset choices.
