ADB raises Vietnam growth forecast to 7.8% for 2026

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has updated its economic outlook for several Asian nations. For Vietnam, the ADB raised its 2026 GDP growth forecast to 7.8% and its 2027 forecast to 7.6%, citing strong performance in manufacturing, domestic consumption, and stable foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows. However, the bank warned of rising inflation pressures, projected at 4.3% for 2026 and 4.0% for 2027, alongside potential credit risks and global economic uncertainties.

In other regions, the ADB projected 5% growth for developing Asia and the Pacific in 2026. The bank revised its forecast for Bangladesh downward, setting FY2027 growth at 4% due to inflation and energy shortages. For Pakistan, the FY2027 growth forecast remains at 3.7%, though inflation is expected to rise to 8.3%.

Additionally, the OECD raised its 2026 global economic growth forecast to 2.9%. Regarding South Korea, the OECD increased its 2026 growth projection to 3.7%, while the ADB had previously estimated it at 3.2% due to the AI-driven export boom.
