South Korea expands AI workforce training and HR development

South Korea is expanding initiatives to integrate artificial intelligence into workforce training and human resource development. The 20th Human Resources Development Conference, themed ‘Change Era, NEXT HR’, is being held in Seoul to discuss how AI is reshaping roles within organizations and the labor market.

The conference features keynote speakers such as Lee Sedol, who will reflect on the impact of technology since the AlphaGo era, and experts from Amazon Web Services discussing generative and agentic AI. Major corporations, including KT and LG Electronics, are participating to share cases of AI-driven innovation and talent acquisition.

In support of these shifts, Sejong University is launching the ‘AI Practical 2Days’ program. This hands-on initiative helps graduates and local youth bridge the gap between job postings and actual skills by working with industry professionals to complete AI projects and refine interview responses.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor has announced plans to significantly expand AI vocational training and establish regional talent cultivation systems to prepare the workforce for the ongoing digital transformation.
