South Korea faces extreme rainfall and heavy flooding

Heavy rainfall and extreme weather conditions have been reported across several regions in South Korea, prompting multiple weather warnings. In Boseong, Jeonnam, rainfall reached an intense 124.6mm per hour, marking one of the highest recorded amounts.

In the Jeonbuk region, heavy rain warnings were issued for areas including Gimje, Buan, Gochang, and Jeongeup. Cumulative rainfall in Gochang reached 207mm, while Buan recorded 175.6mm. The intense precipitation has led to numerous emergency calls, primarily involving road flooding, tree removal, and residential flooding.

The Korea Meteorological Administration warns that a stationary front caused by colliding air masses will continue to bring heavy rain. Forecasts suggest that central regions, including Chungnam, could see up to 250mm of rain, with additional significant rainfall expected in southern and western coastal areas.
