South Korea faces heatwave and heavy showers

South Korea is experiencing continued heatwave conditions with maximum perceived temperatures reaching approximately 33 degrees Celsius. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rain and showers are expected across various parts of the country on Wednesday, the 19th.

Early morning rainfall is forecasted for southern Chungcheong, Jeolla, and western Gyeongsangbuk-do, with amounts between 5 and 30 mm. In the afternoon and evening, showers are expected in southern Gyeonggi, southern Gangwon, Chungcheong, and southern regions. These showers may bring up to 60 mm of precipitation in areas such as Gwangju, Jeolla, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu, and Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Authorities have warned of potential thunderstorms, gusts, and lightning accompanying the showers. Residents in southern coastal areas of Gyeongnam are advised to be cautious of landslides, soil runoff, and facility collapses due to weakened ground from previous rainfall. Morning lows will range from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will fluctuate between 29 and 33 degrees Celsius.
