South Korea faces heatwaves and heavy rain

South Korea is expected to experience continued extreme heat and unpredictable weather patterns. Despite the solar term 'Cheoseo' traditionally marking the onset of autumn, daytime high temperatures are forecasted to reach between 30°C and 35°C through next week.

Heavy rain and sudden showers accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong gusts are expected across much of the country, particularly in the central and southern regions. Heatwave warnings and tropical night advisories have been issued for several areas, including Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang provinces, as well as Jeju Island.

Additionally, Typhoon Saudel is currently moving near Guam and is projected to move toward the waters near Okinawa, Japan. Forecasters noted that the possibility of the typhoon moving toward the Korean Peninsula cannot be ruled out.
