Lin Yu-ting wins boxing gold at 2026 Asian Games

At the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting secured her second consecutive gold medal in the women’s 60kg category, defeating China’s Yang Chengyu with a 5-0 score. Lin, who previously faced scrutiny regarding gender eligibility during the 2024 Olympics, celebrated the victory by making a ‘Team Taiwan’ gesture.

In tennis, China’s Wang Xiyu won the women’s singles gold medal after defeating teammate Zhang Shuai 6-2, 6-1, earning a berth for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong sailing team achieved significant success in the 29er class, sweeping both the men’s and women’s youth gold medals.

Other notable results include Taiwan’s Chen Nien-chin earning silver in women’s 65kg boxing and a silver medal for Hong Kong’s Bei Chun-lung in the men’s ILCA 7 sailing event. In tennis, Taiwan’s Chan Hao-ching and Wu Fang-hsien secured a gold-silver sweep in the women’s doubles final.
