South Korea Football Association Launches Public Search for Interim National Team Coach

After the South Korean national team's early exit from the World Cup, the Korean Football Association (KFA) announced a public recruitment process for an interim head coach to lead the team from September to November. The open call accepts both Korean and foreign candidates who hold AFC or FIFA top‑level licences and submit detailed coaching plans. Applications are accepted until 9 August, with document screening by 13 August and final online interviews on 20‑21 August. The selected coach will be contracted through 27 November.

Former national‑team forward Lee Chun‑so, speaking on his YouTube channel, urged the KFA to secure a high‑profile manager such as Pep Guardiola. He suggested approaching corporate leaders like Samsung chairman Lee Jae‑yong or SK Group chairman Choi Tae‑won for a one‑time financial contribution, saying, “I would even bow down and ask them to help pay Guardiola’s salary if it could revive Korean football.”
