South Korea heatwave and strong showers sweep the nation on June 14‑15

A heat wave across South Korea on June 14‑15 pushed daytime temperatures to 31‑32 °C in major cities such as Seoul, Incheon, Daegu and others. The Korea Meteorological Administration warned that the high heat would be accompanied by strong, localized showers, especially in the central region, Jeollabuk‑Do, Jeollanam‑Do, the western parts of Gyeongsang‑Nam and Gyeongsang‑Buk, with hourly rainfall around 20 mm in the capital area and up to 10 mm in other zones.

Thunderstorms, gusty winds and occasional hail were reported, prompting a rain‑watch in Seoul and surrounding areas. Fog with visibility under 1 km was expected along the western coast of Chungcheong‑Nam. Air‑quality readings remained generally good, ranging from “good” to “moderate.” Safety advisories highlighted the risk of lightning, strong winds and potential damage to facilities.
