South Korea hosts forums and programs for overseas Korean youth

Various initiatives were held in South Korea to support and engage overseas Korean youth. At the ‘2026 Youth Peace Unification Adventure’ hosted by the Democratic Peace Unification Advisory Council, approximately 60 participants, including 22 representatives from overseas, gathered in Yeoncheon to learn about the vision for a unified Korean Peninsula.

Notable award winners from the African Council included Seung-yeon Seo from Senegal, who received the grand prize, Ha-jun Kim from Kenya, who received an encouragement award, and Da-um Na from South Africa, who won a top prize for talent. The program included a unification quiz, site visits to security locations, and cultural experiences.

In Ansan, the ‘Global K Youth Forum’ was held to discuss the settlement and future of overseas Korean youth, including Koryoin and Chinese diaspora. Co-hosted by Ansan City and the Ansan Koryoin Cultural Center with support from the Overseas Koreans Agency, the forum featured discussions on identity, education, employment, and social integration to propose future policies.
