South Korea hosts major World Taekwondo Grand Prix and Poomsae events

The 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix in Muju concluded after three days of competition at the Muju Taekwondowon. South Korea emerged as the most successful nation with three gold medals, followed by China with two. Other gold medalists included representatives from Brazil, Belarus, and Egypt.

Notable performances included Jinho Mun and Da Bin Song securing victories for South Korea, and Raman Turavinau of Belarus winning the men’s -80 kg category. In the +80 kg division, Egypt’s Seif Eissa took gold after defeating Olympic champion Vladislav Larin.

Separately, the program for the 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Chuncheon has been confirmed. The event will take place from September 16 to September 20 at the Songam Sports Town Air Dome. The championships will feature 42 world titles across 34 recognized Poomsae categories and eight freestyle categories, spanning divisions from Cadet to competitors over 65 years old.
