South Korea hosts national disability empowerment events

South Korea is hosting several major events aimed at promoting social integration and vocational empowerment for persons with disabilities.

In Gyeongju, the Korea Rural Disabled Persons Association Gyeongsangbuk-do branch held the 1st National Disabled Poetry Recitation Contest alongside the 13th 'World View' event. The contest featured 18 finalists from across the country, with Park Eun-jung from Daegu winning the grand prize. The event sought to break down social prejudices through the emotional expression of poetry and included award ceremonies for individuals dedicated to improving the quality of life for the disabled community.

Simultaneously, the 43rd National Skills Competition for the Disabled has opened in Busan. The competition features 477 participants competing across 41 different categories, ranging from traditional trades to advanced IT sectors. The event includes career and employment fairs and vocational experience programs designed to foster independence and job creation for disabled individuals.
