South Korea intensifies autumn safety management and disaster prevention

South Korean authorities are intensifying safety management and disaster prevention efforts for the autumn season. Donghae City has announced a proactive safety plan for September, focusing on upcoming autumn festivals such as Mureungje. The city will conduct step-by-step inspections of event facilities, crowd movement routes, and emergency exits, while coordinating response systems with police and fire departments. Additionally, the city will inspect high-traffic facilities and industrial areas, such as the Bukpyeong Industrial Complex, to prepare for potential fires, chemical accidents, and forest fires during the Chuseok holiday period.

On a national level, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is launching a three-month intensive reporting period from September 1 to November 30. This initiative encourages citizens to report hazards related to workplace safety, heavy rain, typhoons, fire safety, and local festivals via the Safety e-Report platform. For the first time, workplace safety—including non-compliance with rules in construction, manufacturing, and logistics sectors—has been added to the reporting scope. Citizens who provide significant contributions to accident prevention through these reports may receive rewards of up to 1 million won in Onnuri gift certificates.
