Seoul World Fireworks Festival triggers major safety and traffic measures
The 2026 Seoul World Fireworks Festival is scheduled to take place at Yeouido Hangang Park, featuring participating teams from South Korea, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The event, themed ‘Finding Your Light,’ will include specialized displays such as ‘tower fireworks’ using Wonhyo Bridge.
To manage the expected influx of up to one million visitors, South Korean authorities have implemented extensive safety and traffic measures. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is deploying approximately 4,700 personnel to handle crowd control, counter-terrorism, and crime prevention. Significant traffic restrictions include the total closure of Yeouidong-ro and Wonhyo Bridge, while Yeouinaru Station may implement non-stop train services if overcrowding occurs.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has designated 50 major autumn festivals, including this one, for intensive management to prevent accidents. Meanwhile, the retail and food sectors are preparing for a significant economic boost; convenience stores and restaurants near the festival site report massive increases in demand for food, beverages, and seasonal supplies.
