South Korea launches autumn travel events for 6,336 landmarks
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization are launching a series of participatory travel events starting October 1, tied to the ‘South Korea Landmark Discovery 100x100 Project’. The initiative focuses on 6,336 unique landmarks across the country that were selected through a public vote involving approximately 40,000 citizens.
One primary event, ‘Professional Wanderer’s Stamp Tour - Autumn Edition’, will run from October 1 to November 1. Participants can choose from four themes: sunset autumn drives, running through silver grass and maple paths, visiting ancient trees, or exploring ‘K-mountains’. Travelers can enter by visiting these landmarks and providing on-site verification.
Additionally, the ‘Funny Travel Photo Festival’ will take place from October 1 to October 30. This event encourages travelers to share humorous or ‘failed’ photos—such as blurry shots or accidental compositions—along with short anecdotes. Fifty participants will receive custom T-shirts printed with their submitted photos. Future events, including a pet-friendly tour, are planned for November.
