South Korea launches K-Book Week in Paris
South Korea is hosting ‘K-Book Week’ in Paris to commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and France. The event, held at the Galerie Joseph cultural complex in the Le Marais district, runs through September 18.
Co-organized by the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea, the initiative aims to introduce Korean literature to European audiences and facilitate rights sales and co-publishing opportunities. The showcase includes approximately 130 works, featuring 24 picture books, 21 works by fiction and web-novel authors, 47 titles already published in French, and various intellectual property projects linked to film and drama adaptations.
The cultural event coincides with a state visit to France by President Lee Jae Myung for a summit with President Emmanuel Macron. South Korean Culture Minister Chae Hwi-young is also expected to visit the exhibition to discuss expanding the overseas promotion of Korean publishing.
