South Korea news: Tourism maps, Nuriho launch, and market shifts

South Korea is seeing various regional developments across tourism, technology, and finance. The Korea Tourism Organization, in collaboration with the Korea National Arboretum, has released the ‘2026 Autumn Foliage Map,’ highlighting 36 major scenic spots and peak foliage timings across six regions.

In Yeosu, the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo is experiencing high visitor numbers, with large groups and school organizations attending following its reopening. Meanwhile, in Mokpo, the Children's Library is recruiting students for IT courses focusing on digital tools and coding.

In the aerospace and financial sectors, the Nuriho rocket is scheduled for its fifth flight, carrying 15 satellites. On the economic front, the KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices both saw a decline at the start of trading, with the KOSPI opening below the 6,900 level.
