South Korea prosecutors indict three lawmakers for obstructing Yoon's arrest

South Korea's special prosecutor team, led by Kwon Chang‑young, announced that three People Power Party lawmakers—Kim Ki‑hyun, Kwon Young‑jin and Yoon Sang‑hyun—have been formally indicted for obstructing the execution of a January 2025 arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk‑yeol. Prosecutors say video evidence shows the lawmakers intervened, publicly claimed the investigation was unlawful, and physically impeded officials, constituting a violation of the special public‑office obstruction law.

The prosecutor office issued summons to the three legislators, giving them until the end of the month to appear for questioning or submit written responses. No forced summons have been issued. Earlier, the same investigative team had already indicted senior party figure Na Kyung‑won for a similar obstruction charge. The case is part of a broader probe into alleged attempts to undermine judicial processes surrounding the former president's arrest.
