South Korea requests Turkish PD170 UAV engine from TUSAŞ

South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has formally requested information from TUSAŞ regarding the purchase of the PD170 turbodiesel engine, produced by TEI. The engine is designed for medium-altitude, long-endurance fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and is currently utilized in platforms such as the ANKA, AKSUNGUR, and Bayraktar TB3.

Representatives from TUSAŞ stated that they are evaluating potential cooperation with South Korea within a broad framework. They expressed hope that joint engineering efforts could lead to long-term industrial partnerships and new aviation programs. While the specific South Korean UAV program intended for these engines has not been disclosed, and the exact volume or value of the deal remains unknown, negotiations are ongoing. The Turkish Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) noted that official details will be released once necessary procedures and negotiations are finalized.
