South Korea heat wave brings scattered showers and temperatures above 30 °C

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast scattered rain showers, thunder and possible hail across the country on Monday, 29 June, with rainfall amounts ranging from 5 mm to 40 mm in inland and mountainous areas. Temperatures are expected to rise to 24 °C–33 °C, with many inland regions exceeding 30 °C and felt temperatures around 31 °C. Major cities are set to see highs of Seoul 33 °C, Incheon 30 °C, Daejeon 32 °C, Gwangju 32 °C and Daegu 32 °C. The forecast also warns of strong gusts, reduced visibility and slippery roads where rain falls, and urges the public to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially the elderly, infants and those with chronic illnesses.

A similar outlook was issued for the preceding weekend (27‑28 June), predicting clear skies overall but continued heat above 30 °C in most inland areas, with occasional showers and thunderstorms in the north‑central regions. The agency highlighted the heightened risk of heat‑related illnesses and advised precautionary measures.
