South Korea to deploy AI for wildfire and disaster prediction

South Korea's Ministry of the Interior and Safety is launching four major AI-driven projects to enhance public safety and administrative efficiency. These initiatives include predicting wildfire spread and smoke movement to establish evacuation routes and firefighting paths, utilizing meteorological, topographical, and fuel data.

Other projects involve using intelligent CCTV to detect flooding risks and implementing an AI-based movement prediction system for elderly citizens with dementia in Miryang. Additionally, Hwaseong City will develop a data platform to analyze and predict recurring civil complaints to improve municipal responses. These efforts are part of a broader government policy to expand AI services within the public sector.
