South Korea to experience sharp temperature drops and strong winds

South Korea is bracing for a significant cold snap and high winds as cold air moves in from the northwest. On Wednesday, temperatures are expected to drop, with wind gusts reaching speeds of over 70 km/h on the west coast and up to 90 km/h in mountainous areas.

By Thursday, the country is expected to face its coldest weather of the autumn so far. Morning temperatures could drop to near 0°C, with parts of northeastern Gyeonggi and inland Gangwon falling below freezing. Cold weather advisories have been issued for most inland regions, with frost and ice expected in several areas.

While daytime highs will remain below 20°C in most regions, the temperature gap between day and night may exceed 15°C. The cold spell is projected to ease starting Thursday afternoon, with temperatures returning to seasonal norms by the weekend.
