South Korea to integrate Silson24 insurance claims into Naver and Toss

South Korea's Financial Services Commission announced plans to expand the accessibility of the ‘Silson24’ indemnity insurance digital claim service. Starting October 7, users will be able to complete insurance claims directly within the Naver Map, Naver Pay, and Toss apps without being redirected to external sites. For users who consent to MyData services, the process will be streamlined by automatically retrieving information such as visited medical institutions, treatment dates, insurance companies, and account numbers.

Despite the service's rollout, the connectivity rate among medical institutions remains low at 47.7% as of September 28. While hospitals and public health centers show a 60.0% connection rate, clinics and pharmacies stand at 46.7%. The government aims to increase this connectivity rate to between 80% and 90% by the end of the year.

To achieve this, authorities are considering amending the Insurance Business Act to impose fines on medical institutions and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) companies that fail to connect to the system without justifiable reasons. Additionally, the government will provide incentives, such as highlighting participating hospitals on Naver Maps and the Silson24 app, and will work with the Ministry of Health and Welfare to simplify certificate issuance procedures.
