South Korea to invest 114.3 billion won in manufacturing AI transformation

South Korea celebrated the 62nd Industrial Complex Day at Daegu EXCO, marking a strategic shift toward manufacturing AI (M.AX) and digital transformation. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Complex Corp. announced plans to invest approximately 114.3 billion won this year to accelerate the integration of AI into manufacturing processes.

Key initiatives include expanding Smart Green Industrial Complexes to 27 locations and increasing AX (AI Transformation) demonstration complexes from 10 to 13. These efforts aim to modernize industrial zones into hubs for carbon neutrality, youth employment, and regional growth, aligning with the government’s ‘5-pole, 3-special’ balanced growth policy.

The event also featured the 2nd Korea Industrial Complex Export Fair, hosting 400 resident companies and 100 global buyers to facilitate 1-on-1 export consultations. During the ceremony, 153 individuals were recognized for their contributions to industrial development, with Jeong Jae-deok of Lee Rim Electronics receiving the Dongtap Industrial Service Medal.
