South Korea U-17 women's volleyball advances to 5th-6th place playoff
The South Korean U-17 women's national volleyball team has advanced to the 5th-6th place classification match at the 2026 FIVB U-17 Women's World Championship in Santiago, Chile.
After a quarterfinal loss to Turkey, where the team fell 1-3 despite a 24-point performance by Son Seo-yeon, South Korea rebounded in the 5th-8th place playoff. They defeated Thailand with a dominant 3-0 scoreline (25-19, 25-15, 25-11).
Son Seo-yeon led the victory with 19 points, while Jang Su-in contributed 14 points. Son currently ranks third in total scoring for the tournament with 159 points. South Korea is scheduled to face Italy in the final match to determine 5th place.
