South Korea weather: Late summer heat and showers forecast

South Korea is experiencing a period of late summer heat and localized precipitation. According to meteorological reports, the southern regions and Jeju Island are seeing high heat indices, with perceived temperatures reaching approximately 33 degrees Celsius.

Rain is expected along the East Coast and in mountainous areas of Gangwon, while the Chungcheong and southern inland regions may experience sudden showers. These showers could be accompanied by thunder, lightning, and potentially hail in areas with high atmospheric instability.

While the Seoul metropolitan area is expected to remain mostly clear, heavy fog is forecasted for the morning in Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Chungcheong regions, which may impact visibility and road safety. The heatwave conditions are expected to persist through Thursday before gradually subsiding.
