South Korean actor Choi Bul-am remembered for lifelong child welfare dedication
Citizens and former beneficiaries of child welfare programs have gathered to mourn the late actor Choi Bul-am, who passed away on October 29. During his funeral services at Seoul Asan Medical Center, a guestbook entry from a young man drew significant attention. The individual expressed profound gratitude, stating that without the support provided by Choi and the child welfare organization ChildFund Korea, he might not be alive today.
Choi began his long-standing relationship with ChildFund Korea in 1981, motivated by a desire to give back to the public following his success in the drama 'Country Diaries'. In 1985, he assumed the role of national fundraising chairman, dedicating much of his life to supporting children both domestically and internationally.
In response to his passing, ChildFund Korea established memorial spaces at its headquarters and online. Mourners have visited to offer poems, tributes, and pledges to continue his legacy of charitable giving. A representative from the organization noted that Choi lived by the philosophy that an adult should be a large tree that supports young trees.
