South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun cleared of allegations involving Kim Sae-ron
South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun and his agency, Goldmedalist, have announced significant legal developments following allegations that he had a relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron while she was a minor. Police have cleared Kim Soo-hyun of these allegations, noting that evidence used against him, including KakaoTalk messages and audio recordings, was fabricated using AI deep voice technology and other methods.
Following an investigation, several individuals have been referred to prosecutors. Kim Se-ui, the operator of the YouTube channel ‘Hwang-Ssu Research Institute’, has been detained. Additionally, Kim Sae-ron’s mother, an individual impersonating Kim’s aunt, the lawyer Boo Ji-seok, and YouTuber Kwon Young-chan have been referred to the prosecution for various offenses, including defamation, violation of the Information and Communications Network Act, and violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes regarding the distribution of footage.
While the mother and other associates face legal action, Kim Sae-ron’s father was not referred for prosecution. The investigation concluded that the claims of a relationship during her minority were based on falsified data.
