South Korean actress Kim Hyun-joo showcases versatility in new projects

South Korean actress Kim Hyun-joo is gaining recognition for her performances in two simultaneous projects: the spy drama ‘Lie After Lies’ and the psychological thriller film ‘Children of Paradise’.

In ‘Lie After Lies’, set during the Japanese colonial period in 1932, Kim portrays Suran, an independence activist seeking revenge. The series has achieved double-digit viewership ratings within its first two weeks.

In ‘Children of Paradise’, her first film appearance in 15 years, Kim plays a mother grappling with the loss of her son, utilizing AI technology to cope with her grief. The film, directed by Yeon Sang-ho, has been released in 118 countries and has already recouped its production costs. Kim noted the difficulty of portraying maternal grief, emphasizing her commitment to sincere character interpretation.
