South Korean agencies launch public contests for future policy and audit planning

South Korean government agencies are launching initiatives to incorporate public feedback into future policy and oversight planning.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is conducting a public idea contest from October 1 to October 31 to establish the ‘7th Open Government Implementation Plan (2027–2031)’. Aligned with the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the plan focuses on three core areas: anti-corruption, citizen participation, and digital transformation. Selected ideas will undergo deliberation by the Korea Open Government Committee to be finalized as the national action plan by July 2027.

Simultaneously, the Board of Audit and Inspection is holding its first ‘National Proposal Audit Idea Contest’ throughout October. Aimed at identifying institutional blind spots and administrative gaps, the contest invites citizens aged 19 and older to suggest audit topics based on 20 priority areas. Proposals will be evaluated for public interest, creativity, and feasibility to help shape the 2027 annual audit plan. Top contributors may receive rewards of up to 2 million won.
