South Korean Army Launches First Human‑Machine Combined Squad

The Republic of Korea Army inaugurated its first squad that integrates soldiers with unmanned systems at a ceremony on the 29th in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province. The unit, formed within the Cheolma detachment of the 11th Maneuver Division, will operate drones, multi‑legged robots, multipurpose unmanned vehicles and autonomous ground vehicles in configurations chosen for each mission.

This marks the first time the ROK Army has combined manned and unmanned assets at the squad level since its founding, aiming to test and develop tactics for future combat operations.
