South Korean arts centers selected for specialized performance projects
Regional arts centers in South Korea have been selected for the ‘2026 Arts Center Specialization Support Project’ by the Korea Association of Art Centers, leading to new high-profile performances.
In Seogwipo, the Seogwipo Arts Center will stage the original musical ‘Symphony No. 4’ on October 17 and 18. Directed by Kim Kyung-taek, the production is set in 19th-century Europe and explores the lives of composers such as Berlioz, Liszt, Schumann, and Paganini. The performance aims to establish a unique musical brand for the center through direct planning and production.
In Jincheon, the Jincheon Arts Center has been selected to host a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra on December 16. The program will feature the National Symphony Concert Orchestra (KNCO) conducted by Kim Seong-jin, with crossover group Liberante appearing as collaborators. The concert will include film music, musical scores, and classical pieces such as Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ suites.
