South Korean biotech firms expand market reach through clinical successes

South Korean pharmaceutical and biotech companies are actively seeking to expand their market presence through successful clinical trials and new product launches.

HLB reported that its combination therapy of rivoceranib and camrelizumab achieved success in Phase 3 clinical trials for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC). Post-hoc analysis showed consistent survival improvements across different age groups, including patients under 50. HLB's US subsidiary, Ellevate Therapeutics, plans to present these findings at the International Liver Cancer Association annual meeting.

Onconic Therapeutics published research in a gastrointestinal journal regarding its drug Zacubo. The study demonstrated significant symptom improvement in adult patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including those who had previously used other treatments like PPIs or P-CABs.

In the specialty medicine sector, SK Plasma has expanded the availability of its thrombocytopenia treatment, Revolpak, by launching a 75mg dose. This high-dose option improves patient convenience and reduces daily medication costs by approximately 17.5% compared to combining lower doses.

Additionally, GC Wellbeing has signed a letter of intent with Japanese biotech firm JBP to co-develop and commercialize a next-generation human-derived collagen skin booster, focusing on high-purity Type III collagen.
