South Korean blockbuster ‘Hope’ debuts at Festival do Rio
The South Korean blockbuster ‘Hope - O Primeiro Impacto’, directed by Na Hong-jin, is making its Brazilian debut at the Festival do Rio. The film, which follows a police chief and a young agent protecting a town from an alien threat, has seen significant success, attracting 4.6 million viewers in South Korea and becoming the largest South Korean debut in the United States.
Reported as the most expensive South Korean film in history with a budget of 100 billion won, the production features a cast including Hwang Jung-min and Hoyeon. Hoyeon, known for her role in ‘Squid Game’, underwent intensive training for her role as a police officer, including learning manual driving, tactical movement, and drifting to perform her own high-speed chase sequences.
The film, which blends suspense, action, and comedy, is distributed in Brazil by Imagem Filmes in partnership with MUBI.
