South Korean broadcasters announce Chuseok holiday movie lineups

South Korean broadcasters have announced a lineup of special movie broadcasts for the Chuseok holiday. While the total number of films is limited due to the coverage of the Asian Games, several major titles are making their television debuts.

SBS will broadcast the historical drama ‘The Man Who Lives with the King’ on September 26 at 9:30 PM. The film, directed by Jang Hang-jun and starring Yoo Hae-jin and Park Ji-hoon, has recorded 16.92 million viewers, ranking second in South Korean box office history. The story follows a village leader and the exiled young King Danjong.

CJ ENM’s channels, tvN and OCN, are focusing on ‘TV first’ broadcasts. tvN will air the extended version of Park Chan-wook’s black comedy ‘I Can’t Help It’ on September 24, followed by the theatrical version on OCN on September 25. OCN will also air the films ‘Informant’ and ‘The People Upstairs’ for the first time on television.

Other scheduled broadcasts include the independent film ‘Jangson’ on KBS and the spy action film ‘The Bourne Supremacy’ starring Matt Damon on EBS.
