South Korean broadcasters announce diverse Chuseok holiday specials

South Korean broadcasters are preparing diverse special programming for the Chuseok holiday, highlighted by a major three-part project celebrating singer Lee Seung-chul’s 40th anniversary on KBS.

KBS has curated a series including the documentary ‘Never Ending Lee Seung-chul’, the variety show ‘Baesong-wat-song’, and the concert special ‘Never Ending Story – Lee Seung-chul’. The concert, recorded at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, features a medley of hits and utilizes a ‘flying sound’ system to provide an immersive auditory experience. Actor Park Bo-gum also appeared as a guest to celebrate the milestone.

Other networks are also offering unique holiday content. SBS will broadcast illusionist Lee Eun-gyeol’s 30th-anniversary magic concert, which reportedly involved a production budget of approximately 20 billion won. JTBC will feature a special outdoor episode of ‘Knowing Bros’ in Andong, while Channel A will air a documentary about quintuplet families. Additionally, ENA plans to debut an AI-integrated variety program designed to support small business owners through short-form promotional videos.
