South Korean cities Eunpyeong and Bucheon recognized for health policies
Eunpyeong District in Seoul has received the Grand Prize at the ‘2026 Korea Healthy City Awards’ hosted by the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership (KHCP). This marks the district's fifth consecutive year winning the award. The recognition follows previous honors from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Alliance for Healthy Cities (AFHC). The award highlights the ‘Connecting Eunpyeong, Running Health’ initiative, which focuses on life-cycle physical activity support and integrating health into all municipal policies.
Meanwhile, Bucheon City has been elected as the 11th Chair City of the KHCP. Bucheon will lead the partnership from 2027 to 2028 and will host the 2027 regular general meeting. During the recent KHCP autumn general meeting, Bucheon also received the ‘2026 Korea Healthy City Innovation Award’ for its ‘Warm Village Bucheon’ project. This initiative utilizes AI technology and community networks to provide integrated care and welfare services, particularly for vulnerable populations in an aging society.
