South Korean cities expand menstrual product subsidies for female youth

Municipalities in Gyeonggi Province, including Yongin and Anyang, are implementing universal support programs to provide menstrual product subsidies for female adolescents aged 11 to 18.

In Yongin, the city is offering up to 142,000 KRW per person to approximately 46,685 eligible residents. The funding, totaling 4.615 billion KRW, is distributed via the ‘Yongin Wai Pay’ mobile local currency. Applications are open online through ‘Gyeonggi Minwon 24’ until September 30, or in person at administrative welfare centers until November 13. Those who applied in the first half of the year will receive payments automatically in October.

Similarly, Anyang is conducting additional applications for those who have not yet applied or have recently moved to the city. Eligible residents born between 2008 and 2015 can receive up to 142,000 KRW annually, provided they do not already receive vouchers from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. Payments will be issued via Gyeonggi local currency in November and can be used at major convenience stores like CU, GS25, Seven-Eleven, and Emart24, or through the ‘Baedal Teukgeup’ delivery app.
