South Korean cities expand public bus services
Municipalities in South Korea are expanding public transportation services to improve commuter and student mobility.
Gyeongsan City will launch the ‘Gyeongsan No. 5’ bus route on October 1. The new line connects the Jungsan and Sadong districts with Gyeongsan Station, facilitating better access to the Daegu Metropolitan Railway. The route is designed to serve several middle and high schools, providing a more convenient environment for students. The bus will operate 15 times daily, with increased frequency during morning school commute hours.
In Osan City, four additional eco-friendly double-decker electric buses will be deployed on the 5300 route connecting Osan to Gangnam Station starting in October. This expansion increases the total number of double-decker electric buses on this route from seven to 11. The initiative aims to alleviate overcrowding and long wait times during peak commuting hours while contributing to environmental improvements through reduced fine dust.
