South Korean cities host youth employment and cultural festivals
Various regional initiatives are being launched in South Korea to support and engage local youth through employment services and cultural festivals.
In Changwon, Kyungnam University’s University Job Plus Center will host a series of events from October 8 to 10. As part of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘First Step Job Guarantee Center’ project, the university will operate a pop-up store called ‘Discovery of Tomorrow Youth Lounge’ at Changwon Factory House on October 8 and 9. This event offers career counseling, psychological testing, and personal color consulting. On October 10, an outdoor festival titled ‘Youth Step-Up Day’ will be held at Yongji Lake Grass Park, featuring career policy consultations alongside cultural performances, including DJ sets and busking.
In Daegu, the ‘2026 Daegu Youth Week’ is scheduled for October 2 and 3 under the slogan ‘Youth Move’. The event includes a ‘Homecoming Day’ for local youth and international students at the Youth Center Haengbokgrae, followed by ‘Youth Move Day’ in the Dongseong-ro area. The festival features approximately 70 booths, a city-wide urban RPG game exploring local history, and K-POP dance competitions. The program aims to foster connections among young people and revitalize the urban center through youth-led cultural activities.
