South Korean cities launch overseas education trips for high‑school students

Jinju City’s Future Generation Happiness Fund sent 51 high‑school students on a ten‑day summer tour of the United Kingdom and France from July 21‑31, visiting Oxford, Cambridge, Sorbonne and other leading universities as well as cultural sites such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and British Museum. Mayor Cho Gyu‑il said the program aims to broaden students’ global outlook and support career planning.

In Seoul’s Gangnam District, 100 high‑schoolers participated in a three‑day “Oxford‑Cambridge” international‑career program at Pungmun High School from July 27‑29. Tutors who are current students at Oxford and Cambridge led English‑language sessions covering natural science, engineering‑medicine, humanities and social science, including mock interviews and one‑on‑one counseling. District chief Kim Hyun‑gi highlighted the initiative’s role in giving students early exposure to world‑class academic environments.
