South Korean cities launch programs for Reading Month

Various municipalities in South Korea are launching diverse cultural programs to celebrate Reading Month in September.

In Naju, the city will operate 11 different programs at the Bitgaram Municipal Library and Naju Kkumjaram Children's Library. These activities include a storytelling instructor certification course for adults, leather crafting, and writing classes for elementary students. Children's programs feature sensory reading experiences involving autumn ingredients. Additionally, a 'Clear Overdue' event will allow users to lift borrowing restrictions by returning overdue books.

Uijeongbu is hosting a 'Library Road Stamp Tour' throughout September. Participants can use the 'Modu-ui Runner' app to collect stamps by visiting seven public libraries and seven designated library paths. By completing quizzes related to librarian collections and visiting specific outdoor locations, participants can enter a drawing to win books and book covers.
