South Korean cities launch Red Circle Campaign for cardiovascular health

Local health authorities in Siheung and Bupyeong-gu are launching the ‘Red Circle Campaign’ throughout September to promote the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases.

The campaign encourages citizens to monitor and manage key health indicators, specifically blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels. In Siheung, programs include health lectures featuring experts, mobile health promotion centers, and integrated health counseling sessions aimed at all citizens, including students and office workers.

In Bupyeong-gu, the health center is operating a ‘Red Zone’ at its health promotion center for metabolic syndrome testing. The district is also hosting mobile health booths at senior centers and universities, offering blood pressure and blood sugar measurements. Additional initiatives include hypertension and diabetes prevention lectures, weekly hypertension classes, and a walking challenge via a mobile application.
