South Korean cities launch youth housing and financial support programs

Local governments in South Korea are launching new initiatives to support young residents through housing and financial stability programs.

In Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, the city is recruiting residents for its ‘Customized Youth Housing’ (Turtle House No. 5). The program offers studio-type units in Yonggang-dong with a deposit of 1 million won and a monthly rent of 150,000 won. The housing is fully furnished with essential appliances and furniture to reduce initial settlement costs. Eligible applicants must be unmarried, non-homeowners aged 18 to 39 residing in Sacheon, with monthly incomes below 100% of the average for a single-person urban worker household.

Meanwhile, Seongnam in Gyeonggi-do is recruiting 80 young adults for financial education sessions focused on asset formation and long-term investment. The program includes workshops on establishing financial roadmaps and safe long-term investment strategies. To provide practical support, the city will offer one-on-one customized financial counseling with certified professionals to 40 participants who complete the sessions. The initiative targets income-earning residents aged 19 to 39.
